Athens Airport
Europe's new southern gateway to the world, the new Athens International Airport is the biggest infrastructure project in Greece, a project of strong entrepreneurial as well as social character. It has 144 check-in counters and two 4 kilometer (2.5 mile) runways. The airport can handle up to 65 landings and take-offs per hour, and an estimated 16 million passengers annually during the 1st phase. Athens international airport has a hotel, conference facilities, a post office, courier service, banks, currency exchanges, ATM's, and as many stores and restaurants as you could ever need.
The airport is 27 kilometers (17 miles) southeast of Athens and is accessible by car, taxi, bus and the metro.
Surgery in Greece provides a complimentary chauffeured service, that will meet you at the airport and take you to your hotel. You will also be chauffeured to all your consultation appointments and clinic and hospital visits.

The airport is accessible by taxi on a 24-hour basis. Passengers reaching the Airport disembark at the Departures level, where they can proceed directly to the check-in counters. When leaving the airport, please make use of the taxi queue next to Door 3 of the Arrivals Level.

The Airport is accessible via Metro Line 3.

Trains depart for the Airport every half hour (:00 - :30).
The journey time from Athens International Airport to Syntagma is 27 minutes and to Piraeus 60 minutes.
The fares for a single journey costs €8.

by Bus
Six public bus routes serve exclusively the airport, connecting the greater area of Athens and Piraeus with the airport.

For only ONE trip to or from the Airport.
Where to buy : From the bus driver, all metro stations and public transport ticket outlets.
Passes: The monthly ticket cards are also valid on the above four lines and cost €38,00. For those meeting certain requirements, a discounted monthly card is also available for €19,00.
The penalty for not having a validated ticket is €32.00
All Express Buses disembark their passengers at the Departures Level and they depart from the designated area located at the inner curbside of the Arrivals Level, right outside the Intra Schengen area, between Doors 4-5.

Buses depart from the Arrivals Level (close to Door 3) of Athens International Airport. Ticket prices for one-way trip is €3 for all services except for the port of Lavrio (€4).
